So far, the SaveMillions Team is just me, but I definitely have plans to expand both the capabilities and the staff in the near future.
Hi. My name is Michael Dittmer. I have over 24 years of experience serving the Defense and medical communities in every facet of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including architecture, design, development, testing, training, and installation. I've served in various capacities, from a subject matter expert to a software developer to a project manager. I am currently an enterprise solutions architect involved in the design and implementation of a service-oriented architecture (SOA) solution which will integrate and federate applications and data across 85 distributed locations around the world. Prior to this, I served for six years as the technical lead, principal architect and senior developer of a classified, Java-based Web portal for the U. S. Air Force.
One of my passions is educating people in the various aspects of financial planning. This desire began more than ten years ago when, at the age of 40, I discovered that I knew very little about my personal finances, the evils of debt, the right types of financial products, and what it takes to accumulate wealth. I had never been taught any of these things, and realized it was time to educate not only myself, but everyone. I joined Primerica Financial Services and spent five years working as a licensed financial planner specializing in consumer education and the development of personalized financial plans. Since that time I have continued to provide education and personalized planning, although I no longer sell product or charge for my financial plans.
Throughout these past years, the most important thing I have learned is that most people don't know how money works, and really need education and assistance when it comes to developing a budget, eliminating debt and living on less than they earn, properly protecting their family and assets, and saving for college, retirement and other financial goals. This prompted me to develop and provide this public Web site as an informational resource to help people learn about the various aspects of financial planning, including products and services, and to provide some basic instruction and tools for developing financial plans. As I continue to improve this site, I also plan to develop an online financial planning capability, and provide it and other personalized financial services to all Americans. More details on these future capabilities are outlined in The Dream.
